About Condition Descriptions
Further Information about the Conditions
Each light on our website is identified as to its condition which fall under one of the following five types:
NEW LIGHTS:
Excess Inventory. These items are lights were either made in error during the manufacturer's regular production cycle or the original purchaser cancelled their order before shipment. Overstock Lights, by definition, are of first quality; we therefore consider these lights as “brand new”.
Discontinued. Throughout the year, manufacturers discontinue lights as well as make design changes to current lights in their line. When this happens, lights that were pre-made using the old design must be cleared from the manufacturer's shelves. Discontinued Lights by definition are of first quality; we therefore consider these lights as “brand new”.
REFURNISHED LIGHTS:
Factory Seconds. Due to the handcrafted nature of many of the lights our manufacturers make, not every light comes out perfect. Sometimes the finish looks washed out, or a minor part was welded on wrong. For these reasons, these lights are considered factory seconds. In any of these situations, we thoroughly inspect the light and repair it the best we can. In all cases, the light will be fully UL approved and fully-functioning, or we won’t sell it.
Damaged and Refurbished. These lights include repaired and refurbished lights are not in a brand-new condition either because they were damaged in shipping to the original purchaser or the original purchaser may have opened and briefly used the product so it shows a small amount of wear and tear. In any of these situations, we thoroughly inspect the light and repair it the best we can. Sometimes there may be only a small blemish remaining, but usually you will never be able to see the problem. In all cases, the light will be fully UL approved and fully-functioning, or we won’t sell it.
Photo Sample/Prototype. This term refers to lights that were made for photographic purposes or were not necessarily the final production model. They may show a small amount of wear and tear from our photo studio. Like the Damaged & Refurbished lights, we thoroughly inspect the light and repair it the best we can, however, these lights are not brand new, but n all cases, the light will be fully UL approved and fully-functioning.
